A Who's Who list of 30 of the city's business community has attended a private lunch in the KPMG boardroom to hear from State of Origin legend Mal Meninga, Titans executive chairman Dennis Watt and new Titans CEO Steve Mitchell.

The lunch, which was held specially for last year's winners of the Gold Coast Business Excellence Awards, was hosted by KMPG Gold Coast managing partner Adam Twemlow, who serves on the Awards' committee and is also chairman of the judges.

The crowd also heard from Condev director Steve Marais, who spoke about his company's pride in winning in the Business of the Year title.

Gold Coast Business Excellence Award president Ian Cousin said the private winners' lunch had become a popular tradition for the awards.

"On the night of the gala awards, there's a lot going on and a lot of excitement, so it's difficult for the winner of the annual categories to touch base with each other,'' said Mr Cousins.

"The KPMG lunch allows members to meet and congratulate fellow winners and gives a few members of the awards committee an opportunity to say congratulations as well."

The 2019 awards are set to be launched in April, with the entries for the May Awards being due at 5pm, on Wednesday, May 1.
