Excellence Awards celebrate 30 years

The Gold Coast’s leading business honours have reached a major milestone and the city’s decision makers are being urged to join the celebration.

The Gold Coast Business Excellence Awards, which aim to foster pride in the city’s business community and highlight the city’s growing economic importance, is turning 30 in 2025.

Business owners are being urged to submit entries to the 2025 Gold Coast Business Excellence Awards which have been officially launched at an iconic Gold Coast destination.

The awards, which are run by a not-for-profit organisation, have attracted a full book of sponsors for 2025, with the Queensland Government joining the list of impressive supporters.

Member for Currumbin Laura Gerber, who was representing Premier David Crisafulli, announced the sponsorship, saying the Gold Coast Business Excellence Awards showcased and encouraged the thriving business sector in the region.

City of Gold Coast Chair of Planning and Regulation Committee and Councillor for Division 1 Cr Mark Hammel officially launched the 2025 Gold Coast Business Excellence Awards at the invitation-only ceremony held at the Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary.

Gold Coast Business Excellence Awards president Adam Twemlow said the city’s economy had been transformed in the past 30 years and this was reflected in the increasingly diverse entries and winners.

“The Gold Coast has changed from its origins as an agricultural centre and then its emergence as a tourism capital, to today where it has a robust and diversified economy that is no longer subject to a boom-bust economy,’’ said Mr Twemlow.

“The city now is also a leader in health, in education and in advanced manufacturing such as our exceptionally strong marine industry in the city’s north.”

Mr Twemlow said it was incredible the range of companies that submitted entries to the awards and he was looking forward to meeting the winners in 2025.

Entries for the 2025 May Awards being due at 5pm, on Thursday, May 1.

The awards, now in their 30th year, aim to foster pride in the city’s business community and highlight its important as a business hub. Some of the city’s best-known companies can claim to have been winners.
