Rackley Swims Away With Family Business Award

High-profile business Rackley Swimming swept the pool to claim a prestigious business award.

The Miami-headquartered company received the Family Business Award for May at the Gold Coast Business Excellence Awards presentation hosted by Mayor Tom Tate at the City of Gold Coast chambers.

Rackley Swimming is a leisure management company that operates 27 leisure and sporting facilities in South-East Queensland.

Founded in Burleigh Heads in 1997 by Trevor and Lyn Rackley, the business began with a single swim school in the renovated Burleigh Beach Baths.

Now employing close to 1,000 employees, Rackley Swimming have had three generations of the Rackley family manage the business since 1951. 

The three core areas of the business are facilities management, swim school management and health club management.

Gold Coast Business Excellence Awards president Ian Cousins said 2020 had been a difficult year for Gold Coast businesses but the quality of the entries so far in 2021 had been superb.

"I think anybody who came along to the May awards presentation would agree the winners were all amazing,'' said Mr Cousins.

"It is a privilege to hear about the incredible stories of innovation, perseverance and success of our Gold Coast business community."

  • Retail, Wholesale and Distribution Award: Austworld
  • Construction and Trades Award: Dynamic Hydro Excavations
  • Manufacturing Award: Patterson Glass
  • IT and Digital Business Award: TechConnect IT Solutions
  • Tourism, Hospitality and Events Award: Hallmark Group
  • Emerging and Micro Business Award: Fetch N Fun Wellness and Daycare

The awards, now in their 26th year, aim to foster pride in the city's business community and highlight its important as a business hub. Some of the city's best-known companies can claim to have been winners.
