Lumineye polishes up award

Written on the 29 June 2014 by Marshall Hall

Yatala-based manufacturer Lumineye has added a touch of polish to the Gold Coast Business Excellence Awards after sealing a victory at the June awards.

Lumineye is Australia’s largest manufacturer of coloured nail polish and nail products, with its 40 employees producing up to 30,000 bottles of nail polish in 6000 colours a day at its Pearson Road, Yatala factory.

The company, which is headed up by managing director Peter Herring, was named as the June winner of the Retail, Wholesale and Distribution category of the Gold Coast Business Excellence Award at a presentation held at KPMG Gold Coast this week.

Lumineye’s products, which always carry other companies’ branding, are found in almost every chemist and department store in the country.

Mr Herring said the company, which was less than 10 years old, was a specialist manufacturer that had established a strong niche position in the global market.

“We are a very innovative company and you would be hard pressed to find another company like us anywhere around the world,’’ Mr Herring said.

“We provide bespoke manufacturing services for nail polish companies around the world.

“While the big Chinese manufacturers require an absolute minimum order of 20,000 bottles, we can handle orders for as little as three bottles per colour.”

He said the ability to lodge smaller orders meant Lumineye’s customers could reduce their inventory costs and this allowed them to invest more in marketing and product development.

Mr Herring said the demand for the company’s services was growing worldwide, with production doubling every year for the past four years.

Lumineye now exports to the United Kingdom, the USA, Russia, South Africa, New Zealand, Denmark, Norway, France and Malaysia.

Mr Herring said the company was now looking to expand further, having lodged patent applications for world-first nail polish remover formulations and it was launching several new styles of packaging.
