JSW Powersports sink the competition

Arundel-headquartered marine sports dealer JSW Powersports has been honoured for its international achievements.

The company, which has been jet ski manufacturer Sea Doo's number one dealer in the world for the past nine years, has been recognised in the Gold Coast Business Excellence Awards after sweeping the Retail, Wholesale and Distribution category for June.

The company was presented with the award at a ceremony held at Links Hope Island Resort this week..

Owner Jeff McNiven launched the business in 1998 as a small mechanical workshop servicing personal watercraft. The company had grown significantly during the past 19 years and now employed more than 40 people.

JSW Powersports is also the Australian distributor of Sea Fox Boats as well as Malibu and Axis boat dealers for wakeboarding and water-skiing towboats. The company's offerings also include Can-Am all-terrain and on-road vehicles.

Gold Coast Business Excellence Awards president Ian Cousins said JSW Powersports is now one of 50 Gold Coast business vying for the title of the Gold Coast's Business of the Year for 2020.

"This year has been incredibly difficult for the business community because of the impacts of COVID-19," said Mr Cousins.

"Having said that, the quality of the entrants in this year's awards have been incredible and it is just amazing to hear about some of the amazing success stories and the ways that businesses have adapted to the difficult conditions."

Mr Cousins said the annual winners would be announced at a Black Tie gala to be held at The Star on Saturday, November 21.

"The event is sold out and we have a waiting list for people wanting to buy tickets,'' said Mr Cousins.

  • The Manufacturing Award:  Brauer Industries
  • The IT and Digital Business Award:  onPlatinum ICT
  • The Emerging and Micro Business Award: Granddad Jack's Craft Brewery

The awards, now in their 25th year, aim to foster pride in the city's business community and highlight its important as a business hub. Some of the city's best-known companies can claim to have been winners.
