Excellence Awards’ Winners Learn City’s Future

WINNERS of the 2023 Gold Coast Business Excellence Awards gathered to hear City of Gold Coast chief executive officer Tim Baker’s plan to meet the demands for the region’s incredible growth over the next eight years.

The lunch, which was held specially for last year’s annual category winners of the Gold Coast Business Excellence Awards, was hosted by KMPG Gold Coast partner in charge Adam Twemlow, who serves as president of the Awards’ committee.

The crowd also heard from YTB Plumbing’s Peter Bond who detailed how he applied his knowledge of leadership in football clubs to develop a strong workplace culture in his award-winning business.

Mr Twemlow said the private winners’ lunch had become a popular tradition for the awards over the past 13 years.

“On the night of the gala awards, there is a lot going on and a lot of excitement, so it’s difficult for the winner of the annual categories to touch base with each other,’’ he said.

“The winners’ lunch allows members to meet and congratulate fellow winners and gives a few members of the awards committee to say congratulations as well.”

The 2024 awards are set to be launched in April, with the entries for the 2024 May Awards being due at 5pm, on Wednesday, May 1.

The awards, now in their 29th year, aim to foster pride in the city’s business community and highlight its important as a business hub. Some of the city’s best-known companies can claim to have been winners.

The awards’ major sponsors include Dreamweavers, Neumann Steel, Neumann Contractors, Currumbin Minerals, Australian Retirement Trust, Study Gold Coast, City of Gold Coast, Coraggio, Westpac, Harvey Norman Commercial Queensland, Optus Business Centre Gold Coast, Griffith University and Southern Cross Austereo. The awards’ media sponsors include the Gold Coast Bulletin, 92.5 MMM, SeaFM 90.9, 7 News Gold Coast and GoTransit Media.
