Business Awards and Honours Launched for 2023

A Who’s Who list of Gold Coast business community recognised the heroic achievements of some of the city’s finest rescue personnel at the launch of the 2023 Gold Coast Business Excellence Awards.

More than 70 of the Coast's leading power brokers turned up for the exclusive launch of the 2023 awards held at the Burleigh headquarters of 2022 Business of the Year, Medical Rescue.

The aeronautical medical company had the honour of presenting National Emergency Medals to eight Medical Rescue staff members for their work during the 2019 Victorian bushfire crisis.

Gold Coast Business Excellence Awards’ president Adam Twemlow said the venue was the perfect place for the 2023 launch.

“The awards, which are now in their 28th year, are about rewarding those business operators who are the best in their fields,’’ he said.

“We have seen tonight how Medical Rescue and its employees are recognised throughout Australia and overseas as being among the best and bravest.”

Mr Twemlow said 2023 was shaping up to be a challenging year for the economy but he was sure leading Gold Coast businesses would thrive in the challenging times ahead.

He said the committee behind the awards was committed to running the awards in recognition of the perseverance and strength of the business community.

"The awards have grown to become the region's most comprehensive and prestigious awards scheme and they are continuing to grow,’’ Mr Twemlow said.

"Every year the quality of the entrants becomes even more impressive, the competition to win one of the awards becomes tougher and the array of industries from which the businesses come from are increasingly diverse.

“The different sectors from where our winners now come from shows how much the Gold Coast economy has changed in the past 28 years.

"These days many of our winners and our sponsors are household names but every month we always receive one or two surprises when little known companies pop up to claim honours."

Mr Twemlow said the awards had become an important part of the business calendar, so much so that they were now tied to the City of Gold Coast’s procurement policy.

Entries for the first monthly awards for 2023 are due at 5.00pm on Tuesday, May 2.

Mr Twemlow said the awards were strongly supported by its sponsors and the organisation again had a full book of sponsors.

The awards’ major sponsors include Dreamweavers, Neumann Steel, Neumann Contractors, Currumbin Minerals, Australian Retirement Trust, Study Gold Coast, City of Gold Coast, Choice Homes, MPM Property, Westpac, Harvey Norman Commercial Queensland, Optus Business Centre Gold Coast, Griffith University, Southern Cross Austereo and Coraggio. The awards’ media sponsors include the Gold Coast Bulletin, 92.5 MMM, SeaFM 90.9, 7 Gold Coast and 7 News Gold Coast.

The GCBEA’s major supporters are KPMG, Document Solutions Australia, Bloomtools, Consulting Hall, The Graphic Design Company and Rix Developments.
