With the company’s global headquarters located in Southport, Pivotel is one of just four mobile telecommunications network providers in Australia. A multi-award-winning company, Pivotel has an international network of more than 275 dealers and now has close to 150 employees.

HomeGuardian.ai
HomeGuardian.ai is a patented, world first, artificial intelligence smart care home device that analyses human behaviour and interaction, and alerts loved ones or health care professionals when abnormal interaction occurs. HomeGuardian detects everything from falls, to declines in health, abuse and violence, and even the onset of COVID-19 and other illness symptoms. HomeGuardian exports to New Zealand, Europe and the UK.

Family Business

Usher Group
Usher Group provides professional painting, rendering, plastering, signage, electrical service solutions and property maintenance services. Established on the Gold Coast in 2003, the Usher Group has grown from a small family business into a national business that has close to 500 employees. 2021 marks 20 years since Theo Vairaktaris started his first business which now employs 13 family members.

Austworld
Headquartered in Molendinar, Austworld is a wholesaler and distributor of plumbing supplies. Recognised as one of Australia’s leading plumbing wholesalers with more than 2500 customers nationwide, Austworld has six warehouse centres on the Gold Coast, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth and Tasmania. Established in 1984 by Sam Raso selling from the boot of his car, Austworld now produce a range of more than 3000 plumbing supplies.

SEE Group
SEE Group specialises in civil construction with a focus in four main areas - civil infrastructure, quarry ownership and operation, civil plant management and quarry and material supply. SEE Group’s largest projects include infrastructure to support Coomera Town Centre, the expansion of the Gold Coast Airport and the Surfers Paradise Sand Backpass Pipeline Project, which will pump sand from The Spit to Surfers Paradise.

Manufacturing

Superior Jetties
Superior Jetties manufactures and installs high quality marine systems, pontoons, modular docks, boat lifts and jet ski docks. Operating for over 30 years, Superior Jetties is one of the world’s leading manufacturers in the domestic and commercial marine sector, both within Australia and internationally. Superior Jetties won the tender to build the superyacht berth at the Southport Yacht Club.

GANDEN Engineers and Project Managers
GANDEN provides engineering and project management services for government, mining and the resources sectors, the construction industry and industrial clients. GANDEN now works with every water authority in South-East Queensland. Based in Varsity Lakes, GANDEN now also has offices in Cairns, Brisbane, Rockhampton and Victoria. The company now employs 36 staff across the business.

Health and Wellbeing

Medical Rescue
Medical Rescue is a specialist private, aeromedical service that provides medical teams, medical jets and search-and rescue helicopters. Providing end-to-end medical and evacuation solutions, the company has grown exponentially since its launch in 2011. Employing more than 300 people, Medical Rescue holds long-term contracts with organisations such as the Australian Defence Force, US Marine Corps and involvement in Queensland’s COVID vaccination roll-out.

IT and Digital Business

Powertec Wireless Technology
Hardware and communications company, Powertec Wireless Technology, helps businesses and people to communicate and be connected no matter where they are based. Powertec has developed a Dealer base across Australia and New Zealand of more than 1,000 businesses. These include companies like Telstra, Optus, and Vodafone in Australia and Spark, Vodafone and 2Degrees in New Zealand.

Tourism, Hospitality and Events

Gold Coast Turf Club
The Gold Coast Turf Club is an icon of the Gold Coast. It provides thoroughbred racing, training facilities and more than 20 event spaces on a 34ha site in the heart of the Gold Coast. Each year the club hosts about 60 race meetings. The club has 36 full-time employees and this figure swells to more than 600 employees during major race days.      

Student Engagement

Dan the Sparky Man
Dan the Sparky Man provides electrical services to builders, small-scale developers and homeowners. Dan Carpenter first started an electrical business in Adelaide as a sole trader and then moved to the Gold Coast. Dan the Sparky Man has employed more than 100 apprentices in the business since it first started on the Gold Coast 15 years ago.

Mike Kellett started his health food business Macro Mike three years ago in his one-bedroom apartment. Macro Mike now averages 200 orders a day and their products are now sold in more than 3000 stores across the country. Coles has just agreed to their products in more than 600 stores nationally.
