Category Specifications
 
Companies can enter online, via email or send in a hard copy.
 
* Entries should not be any longer than 4 pages maximum.
All of the monthly categories require the same points to include in your submission.
 
A few of the categories require additional information as indicated.
 
Businesses do not need to be involved in manufacturing AND construction, it may be one or the other. This applies to 'Retail, Wholesale & Distribution', 'Trades Professions & Services', 'Tourism, hospitality & Recreation' ect...also.

Points to include in your entry submission (1000 - 2000 words, no more than 4 pages maximum).

1) 50 word description
Prepare a 50 word description of your business for use in presentation and publicity purposes
 
2) Overview of the company & its history
Include length of time business has been in operation, customer/target market, number of employees, customer target market etc., plus company structure & organisational chart.

3) Products/services
Include innovative products and/or services, research and development undertaken, distribution chains
 
4) Management Practices
This could include staff training, incentives, personal development, encouragement to guide the company in its goals for growth & success.
 
5) Manufacturing Practices
If applicable to your business,details should include production efficiency initiatives eg Lean operations, factory layout, efficiency improvements, as well as safety and quality initiatives.
NB Similarly to the Exporting Activities criterion, only Manufacturing category applicants need address this criterion.
 
6) Innovation including Research & Development
Innovative products, services &/or technology. Innovation can be demonstrated through the provision of products that are nationally/internationally competitive & pioneering in the area. Also, a demonstrated commitment to funding research & development to produce a superior product &/or to provide services for enhancing the client's experience.
If relevant / applicable, make reference to any innovation-related Government assistance received eg grants.
 
7) Environmental practices
This section relates to waste management,  water saving & recycling practices or any other relevant environment practices.
 
8) Citizenship
How your company supports the community whether through sponsorships to community groups, charity work, work experience ect.
 
9)  Details of recent significant achievements
Include awards received, staff expansion or goals met
 
10) Exporting activities
If applicable to your business, details should include annual export sales, principal export markets & projected exports. If relevant / applicable, make reference to any export-related Government assistance received eg grants

  • Entries need to be submitted by the 1st of each month, from May to October, inclusive. (Unsuccessful May entrants are considered in June, those unsuccessful in June are automatically reconsidered in July and so forth).

3) Is there a template I can access?

No. We don't have a template. It is still easy to enter our Awards though. Just prepare a 1000 word overview of your business telling us the high points of your operation - particularly over the last two years. Don't forget to let us know who the people are that are involved and what sets your business apart from the rest. We also like to hear about growth and where you see yourself heading in the future.
